In case you missed it, HYROX is sort of the biggest talked about thing in the fitness space right now.
More than 500,000 people participated in HYROX races in 2025, and this number is expected to hit well over one million in 2026.
As a result, HYROX Training Centers are popping up all over the place to accommodate the tens of thousands of people training for an upcoming HYROX race.
In Charlotte, North Carolina:
Dave Yandel’s gym, Charlotte Strength, is one of them.
Charlotte Strength has been part of the FaciliKey Network for the past five years. In late 2023, Yandel expanded its offerings by launching a HYROX Training Club. Today, he offers HYROX classes six days a week.
Although he offers HYROX-specific classes, being able to offer unattended access to his HYROX folks has been invaluable, he said, adding that 32 of his members have participated across five different HYROX events in recent months.

For them, “being able to access the gym outside of coaching hours has helped those with weird work schedules, or those who prefer to train alone during slower periods at the gym,” Yandel explained.
Further, Yandel also gets drop-ins specifically looking to train for HYROX. He charges them $25 both for a class or for unattended access.
And thanks for FaciliKey accommodating drop-ins—which can sometimes be a headache for the gym owner—it couldn’t be any easier.
“FaciliKey integrates into our payment and member processing system. Drop-ins are able to get access to the gym with limited to no communications from us outside of our automated messages,” he said.
He added: “This also helps when members have missed a payment for any circumstance. They lose access to the facility which encourages them to fix the issue on their own.”

In Tuckerton, New Jersey:
Mark Targett’s gym, Clamtown Facility is another gym accommodating the growing HYROX market.
Though not an official HYROX Training Center, Targett offers an endurance class, which those training for HYROX often attend. Further, he offers unattended access via FaciliKey, which has been especially useful for HYROX enthusiasts.
- Last year, a dozen of his members—about 10 percent—competed in a HYROX race, Targett said, and he also had a handful of drop-ins who were in town for a HYROX race pay for unattended access, either as a single day pass, a punch card or a week-long membership. (Targett charges $27 for a day pass and $97 for a week-long unattended access pass).
With FaciliKey in his corner, supporting HYROX athletes has become that much easier.
- “FaciliKey gives us the flexibility for them to train outside of class times,”
Targett said.
From a bigger-picture perspective, it has been a “game changer” for Targett’s entire business.

Firstly, he has been able to use FaciliKey as an “upgrade tool,” he explained, as having unattended access means a lot of people who used to pay for just two or three classes a week are now on unlimited memberships as they’re doing a mix of classes and unattended access.
Further, as a nine-year gym owner, Targett finally feels comfortable taking time off during the holiday season, which he never did before.
- “We now take a week off in between Christmas and New Year’s
and give members access to open gym so that the coaches can take off and members can still go to the gym,” he said.
The Big Picture
As HYROX continues to grow at an explosive pace, gyms like Charlotte Strength and Clamtown Facility are stepping up to meet the evolving needs of athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike.
And thanks to FaciliKey, accommodating both their dedicated members and transient drop-ins has never been easier—or more efficient.
- “I would highly recommend FaciliKey.
The service is very reliable, communication has been great, and to drive home the point of integration
we are able to give access and deny access to the correct people,” Yandel said.
